Case study of the institutional university extension of the National University of Jujuy 1986-2018

Abstract

The work corresponds to the results of an investigation carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2022. The research problem referred to what the characteristics and possible singularities of the university extension of the National University of Jujuy were, from its foundation until 2018, the date when the project was developed; with the objective of understanding the significance and particularities of the university extension developed by the National University of Jujuy in relation to the current approaches and models of university extension. The methodology applied was an instrumental case study, unique with multiple units. As information collection procedures used for triangulation, semi-structured interviews were conducted with those responsible for extension areas and documentary analysis of the annual reports of the university. The analysis of the qualitative material was carried out with the ATLA.ti software. The conclusions allow to regroup the dispersed information of the university extension of the National University of Jujuy until 2018: the main responses that the offices of the area gave to the demanding context between 1986 and 2018 are established in contrast to the current theory about the function which leads to one of the great questions that university extension in the region has today.
