Accessibility in the field of disability and other scope of the concept: contributions to the construction of a situated perspective

Abstract

Accessibility has been a concept built with contributions from different fields and disciplines. In our country, its use has been mainly promoted in the field of health. However, in recent years it has gained great prominence since the turn in the concept of disability, inaugurated by the social model of disability, and then with the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (ONU 2006, Argentina, 2008) and the enforceability of rights that can be carried out by this group. Accessibility, as a concept, also emerges in projects in the extension field, in university policies and activism. However, it is frequently subsumed to a technical factor and decontextualized from theoretical and sociopolitical debates. In this sense, the article proposes a conceptual journey from a critical and situated perspective, taking into account its background and complexity, and based on reflections from more than ten years of extension work experiences on the subject.

Es Profesora en Educación Media y Superior en Ciencias Antropológicas (FFyL, UBA), maestranda en Política y Gestión de la Ciencia y la Tecnología (UBA). En la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UBA integra el Programa de Antropología y Salud del Instituto de Ciencias Antropológicas, FFyL, es co-coordinadora del Programa de Discapacidad y Accesibilidad, Docente del Seminario de grado de prácticas socioeducativas territorializadas (PST) “La accesibilidad como derecho: múltiples actores, dimensiones y trabajo colaborativo” y es coordinadora académica de la Diplomatura en “Producción de Accesibilidad: discapacidad y derechos”. Fue docente responsable de 2012 a 2016 del Centro de Producción de Accesibilidad en el Centro Universitario de Devoto (CUD), proyecto de articulación con el Programa de Extensión en Cárceles, FFyL, UBA. Es coautora del libro La discapacidad desde la perspectiva de las humanidades, Colección saberes. Ed. Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, UBA y autora de artículos científicos. También dicta seminarios y cursos en otras facultades y universidades.
